Ex-Man City CB Onuoha not sold on Arsenal signing a new striker amid Osimhen, Solanke links

Former Manchester City center-back Nedum Onuoha is not convinced that Arsenal need a new striker as they seek to end their long-term wait for the Premier League.

 

The Gunners appear not to be satisfied with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as strikers with both managing just 8 goals between them in the Premier League this season.

This explains why they have been linked with a host of forwards ahead of the January transfer window including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke, and Brentford star Ivan Toney.

Arsenal drew blanks in their loss to West Ham at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday and it has increased the call for the North London side to buy a central forward.

Speaking on ESPN FC while answering the question of whether the 13-time English champions need new number nine, Onuoha stated that he is not convinced that they need one.

“You know I am not 100% sold on that just because say last year for example at this point of the season, they had 50 points and it wasn’t as if their striker scored 15, 20, 25 goals, they were very good in sharing the goals.”
