An upcoming Nigerian musician, whose name hasn’t been released, has publicly accused popular comedian Carterefe of withholding promotional services after being paid 3 million naira.
The allegation, made on social media, claims the artist contracted Carterefe to promote their song. After receiving the payment, the comedian allegedly said the song wasn’t “sweet” (meaning good or catchy) and refused to fulfill the agreed-upon promotion or return the money.
The accusation has sparked debate online. Some social media users expressed support for the artist, urging them to take legal action. Others questioned the validity of the claim, waiting for a response from Carterefe.
This isn’t the first time such allegations have surfaced regarding endorsements and promotions between social media influencers and musicians. Standardized contracts and clearer communication are being emphasized to avoid future disputes.
